Macau’s average daily gaming revenue reached 88 million patacas in the first four days of September, recovering moderately from the daily average of 71 million patacas in August, according to a note from UBS.

While tourist arrivals have been recovering after the world’s largest casino hub relaxed restrictions following the end of the largest COVID outbreak, COVID cases in the neighbouring Guangdong province have increasing significantly, and in the foreseeable future, the border control measures are expected to remain tight, the bank said.

UBS expects Macau’s casino performance in the upcoming Golden Week in October to remain weak, likely to be in line with the same period last year, with average daily gaming revenue at about 125 million patacas.
