R&F Properties Founder reaches agreement with US prosecutor on bribery case, avoids criminal prosecution

The US Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of California announced that R&F Properties’ founder and co-chairman Zhang Li has reached an agreement with US prosecutors and will not face criminal prosecution.

Zhang admitted to bribing Mohammed Nuru, the former head of San Francisco’s Department of Public Works, to obtain permits for construction projects.

Zhang, 70, was charged in the US in 2021 and was arrested in the UK last year. He agreed six months later to be extradited to the US for trial in a case in which a total of 14 people were prosecuted, including Nuru, who was sentenced to seven years in prison.
