Most Chinese cities have so far removed restrictive policies on the housing market and stronger supportive policies are needed to curb the downtrend in the second half of the year, according to China Index Academy, a leading real estate research firm in the country.

Homebuyers’ sentiment is still damped by several factors, including weak income expectations, strong expectations of falling home prices, and concerns over unfinished homes, and whether the factors can improve and the scale of supportive policy will directly affects the real estate market in the second half of the year, it said.

After the “ups and downs”, the housing market is expected to gradually return to normal in the next two years, with the average annual homes sales below 1.2 billion square meters, it said.
