Trip.com swung to profit in first half, Q2 profit surged over 800%

Trip.com, China’s largest online travel agency, said that its first-half surged 151.9% year over year to 20.473 billion yuan.

The company reported a net profit of 4 billion yuan for the first half, compared to a net loss of 920 million yuan a year earlier. Earnings per share was 6.14 yuan. No dividend was declared. 

For the second quarter, the company’s revenue surged 180.4% from a year earlier to 11.26 billion yuan, surging 29% from the same period in 2019. Net profit attributable to shareholders skyrocketed 814.5% to 631 million yuan.

Revenue from hospitality booking surged 216% on year in the second quarter to 4.29 billion yuan. Hotel booking volume surged 170% from a year ago and jumped more than 60% from the same period in 2019. Transportation ticket booking revenue surged 173% to 4.8 billion yuan.
