Chinese President Xi Jinping will visit the US from November 14 to 17, according to a statement released by China’s Foreign Ministry on Friday.

During the trip, Xi will hold a meeting with US President Joe Biden and attend the 30th APEC summit in San Francisco, the ministry said.

The two leaders plan to meet in California on Wednesday, which will be their first face-to-face meeting since November 2022, and they will have the highly choreographed discussion as they attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in San Francisco, the White House announced on the same day.

The meeting is expected to cover global issues from the Israel-Hamas war to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, North Korea’s ties with Russia, Taiwan, the Indo-Pacific, human rights, fentanyl, artificial intelligence, as well as “fair” trade and economic relations, reported Reuters, citing senior Biden administration officials.

“Nothing will be held back; everything is on the table,” one US official said in a briefing.

The announcements came after Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng, which is visiting the US, started two-day meetings with US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen in San Francisco.

He said that he hopes to communicate China’s “key concerns on the economy” with the US and promote the pragmatic development of China-US relations.

The first day’s meeting was held at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in San Francisco and the talks were taking place in a relatively warm atmosphere, a reflection of the recent improvement in the bilateral relations, reported VOA.

He said he hopes to build on the good foundation of Beijing talks to further discuss in-depth issues related to the global, economic and financial fields of China and the US, and communicate China’s “key concerns on the economy.

The meeting is aimed at creating a better investment and business environment for companies of both countries, and promote the pragmatic development of China-US relations with more favorable and effective consensuses and measures.

It’s the second time the two have had a face-to-face meeting in four months, after meeting in July in Beijing.
