Industry bodies call for support for auto sector, more local governments offer subsidies to boost car sales

Two auto industry bodies in China have proposed the government to take measures, including delaying the plan to implement the tougher emission standard nationwide, to support the sector hit by the coronavirus outbreak.

In addition, China's industry ministry urges local governments to remove quota for car license plates. More local governments, including first-tier city Guangzhou, have decided to provide subsidies to boost auto sales.

Auto Dealers' Chamber of Commerce under the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce has proposed the government to postpone national implementation of the new, tougher automotive emission rules . . .
