China's tourism market rebounded during the Labour Day holiday as the country emerged from months of lockdown, but it remained significantly weaker than the same period last year as concerns about coronavirus linger.

During this year’s five-day holiday, the number of domestic trips was down 41 per cent from the shorter holiday period in 2019 to 115 million and tourist spending plunged 60 per cent to 47.6 billion yuan ($6.7 billion), according to data released by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism on Wednesday.
