Chinese economists at government-backed institutions expect the country's economic growth to accelerate in the second half of the year after the first contraction in the first quarter and the full-year growth could achieve 3 - 4 per cent.

The economy may grow 3 per cent this year as the government steps up stimulus policy, said Zhang Ming, a researcher at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), a top government think tank.

The GDP growth could return to 2 per cent to 3 per cent in the second quarter as factories step up . . .
