Chinese President Xi Jinping signed a landmark national security law for Hong Kong after the Standing Committee of China's National People’s Congress earlier Tuesday voted unanimously to pass the legislation.

The top decision-making body also adopted a decision to write the legislation, aimed at barring secession, subversion, terrorism and foreign interference in Hong Kong, into the former British colony’s Basic Law, Xinhua News Agency reported.

Xinhua didn't release any details about the law. Hong Kong’s sole representative to the body, Tam Yiu-chung, had earlier told reporters via video . . .
