China lifts freeze on domestic group tours as coronavirus worries ease

China is resuming group tour for the first time in months after group tours were banned to contain the spread of the coronavirus.

The Ministry of Culture and Tourism said travel companies are now allowed to operate group tours across provincial borders to low-risk areas of the country, pending the approval of local authorities.

The ministry suspended group tours and air ticket-hotel package deals on Jan. 23, the day the Covid-19 epicenter of Wuhan was placed in lockdown in an effort to slow the spread of the virus. Outbound tourism was banned . . .
