China's retail sales picked up further in September as consumers shook off the coronavirus caution, with online sales growing at a faster pace and revenue of the virus-hit catering sector approaching the level seen last year.

Retail sales grew 3.3 per cent in September from a year earlier, speeding up from a modest 0.5 per cent gain in August and posting the fastest growth since December 2019, showed data released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on Monday.
