China’s factory-gate prices rose at the fastest pace in more than three years in April, mainly driven by climbing commodities prices, as the world’s second-largest economy continued to gather momentum.

The producer price index (PPI), a gauge of industrial profitability, rose 6.8 per cent in April from a year earlier, showed data released by the National Bureau of Statistics on Tuesday, compared to a 6.5 per cent rise expected by analysts in a Reuters poll and a 4.4 per cent rise in the previous month.
