South China's Guangdong province, one of the country's economic powerhouses, is expected to have reached 12.8 trillion yuan in 2022, growing by around 2% from the previous year, said the provincial governor Wang Weizhong at its government work report.

"In the past one year, Guangzhou faced triple pressure of shrinking demand, supply shock and weakening expectations, and in particular, as Guangdong neighbours Hong Kong and has higher foreign dependence, it suffered more severe challenges from Covid outbreaks and weakening overseas demand," said Ai Xuefeng . . .
