China’s gold consumption rose nearly 6% in Q1 driven by safe-haven demand, gold production surged 21% boosted by rising gold prices

China's gold consumption reached 308.91 tonnes in the first quarter of the year, rising 5.94% from a year earlier, according to data released by the China Gold Association.

In breakdown, consumption of gold jewellery reached 183.92 tonnes, falling 3% from a year earlier, and consumption of gold bars and coins reached 106.32 tonnes, surging 26.77%, while industrial and other gold consumption reached 18.66 tonnes, rising 3.09%, showed the data.
