China’s mobile phone output fell 7% on year in Q1, computer fell 22.5%, IC output fell 14.8% – official data

The output of China’s electronic information manufacturing industry declined by 1.1% in the first quarter from a year earlier, narrowing by 1.5 percentage points from the first two months, and 4.1 and 2 percentage points weaker than the growth of overall industrial output and high-tech manufacturing output during the same period, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

In March, the industry’s output grew by 1.2% from a year earlier, it said. 

Among the main electronic information products, output of mobile phones reached 331 million units in the first quarter, falling by 7% from a year earlier, with output of smartphones sliding 13.8% to 239 million units, showed the data.

Output of microcomputer equipment reached 79 million units in the first quarter, sliding 22.5% from a year earlier, while the production of integrated circuits reached 72.2 billion pieces, falling 14.8%, showed the data.
