China’s industrial production grew at slower pace in May

China’s industrial production grew at slower pace in May

China’s industrial production rose 3.5% in May from a year earlier, according to the National Bureau of Statistics, slowing significantly from the 5.6% growth in the previous month.

For the first five months of the year, industrial production grew by 3.6% from a year earlier, in line with the growth during the first four months, showed the data.

Of China’s 41 major industries, 21 industries’ output grew in May from a year earlier, according to the data.

The auto manufacturing industry’s output grew 23.8% in May from a year earlier; the railway, shipbuilding, aerospace and other transportation equipment industry grew 7.6%; the electrical machinery and equipment industry grew 15.4%; the computer, communication and other electronic equipment manufacturing industry stayed flat; and the electricity and heating industry grew 5.2%, showed the data.
