Newly registered battery installation for electric vehicles globally reached 304.3 GWh in the first half of the year, surging 50.1% from a year earlier, according to data from South Korea-based SNE Research.
Installations of batteries produced by China’s CATL surged by 56.2% to 112GWh, with a global market share of 36.8%, making it the world’s top battery provider. BYD Company’s battery installations surged by 102.4% to 47.7GWh, with a market shares of 15.7%.
Installations of batteries produced by the three major South Korean battery producers – LG Energy Solution, Samsung SDI and SK On – also increased across the board, with a total global market share of 23.9%, falling by 2.2 percentage points from a year earlier.
