Baidu shares hit one-year high on ChatGPT-style bot plan

Chinese search engine giant Baidu surged 15.3% to close at HK$166.3 in Hong Kong on Tuesday, marking the highest level since February last year.

Baidu said that its ChatGPT-style bot project is called ERNIE BOT and will complete internal testing in March before launching it publicly.

Ernie, meaning "Enhanced Representation through Knowledge Integration," is a large AI-powered language model introduced in 2019, Baidu said.
