China Southern Airlines, Xiamen Airlines saw passenger volume in summer holiday exceeded 2019-level

China Southern Airlines, one of the country’s three largest state-owned carriers, and its subsidiary Xiamen Airlines operated a total of more than 170,000 flights during the summer holiday (July – August) and carried more than 26 million passengers, with passenger traffic exceeding the level seen in the same period of 2019, said the parent company China Southern Air Holding Company.

Of that, domestic passenger traffic increased by 13% from 2019-level, while international and regional passenger traffic reached 50% of the pre-pandemic level, it said.

The carrier operates a total of 114 air routes to 42 countries and regions and it operated a total of international and regional 9,900 flights, with an average weekly volume of about 1,100 flights, it said.

The number of international and regional flights has reached 47.1% of the level seen in the same period in 2019, it said.
