China to study measures to support NEV makers’ international expansion, to roll out policy to further optimize foreign invesetment environment – Commerce Ministry

China’s will study measures to support new energy vehicle makers to expand into international markets, enhance the development of processing trade, facilitate visa application for business people, and resume and increase international flight volume, and organize exhibitions such as the China International Import Expo and the Canton Fair, the Ministry of Commerce said at a press briefing on Wednesday.

The ministry will roll out policy to further optimize the environment for foreign investment and push for reasonable shorten negative list for foreign investment, implement the round-table mechanism for foreign-invested companies and maintain regular communication with foreign companies, it said. 

China’s absorption of foreign capital in the first half of the year was basically stable and there were 24,000 new foreign-invested companies in China, rising by 35.7% from a year earlier, said China’s Ministry of Commerce at a press briefing on Wednesday.

However, China’s inbound foreign direct investment (FDI) fell by 2.7% to 703.65 billion yuan, it said.

Of the inbound foreign investment, that from France surged by 173.3%, Britain 135.3%, Japan 53% and Germany 14.2%, it said. Foreign investment into high-tech industries grew by 7.9%, accounting for 39.4% of the total, rising by 3.9 percentage points, and in particular, foreign investment in to high-tech manufacturing industry grew by 28.8%, it said.
