China is unwaveringly committed to the “carbon peaking and carbon neutrality” target, but the path, methods, pace, and magnitude to achieve the goal should and must be determined by China itself and should not be influenced by any external parties or forces, said Chinese President Xi Jinping at a conference, according to the official Xinhua News Agency.

Xi stressed that China should stick to precise, scientific and law-based treatment of pollution, maintain the strength and extend the depth to protect “blue sky, blue water, clean soil” and improve the quality of the ecological environment. 

China should accelerate green low-carbon transformations, make green and low-carbon development a solution to ecological and environmental problems and accelerate the formation of green production methods and lifestyles, he said.

China should improve economic policies for green and low-carbon development, and strengthen financial support, tax policy support, financial support and price policy support, integrate carbon emission rights, energy rights, water rights, sewage rights and other resources and environmental elements into reforms, he said.
