China’s auto exports hit new record in August, surpassed 300,000 units for first time ever

Automakers in China exported 308,000 vehicles in August, jumping above 300,000 mark for the first time ever and hitting a new record high, according to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers. The exports rose 6.2% from the previous month and surged 65% from the same period last year, showed the data.

By models, exports of passenger cars reached 260,000 units last month, rising 7.6% from a month earlier and surging 68.7% from a year ago; exports of commercial vehicles reached 49,000 units, falling 0.3% from the previous month and surging 47.5% from a year earlier, showed the data.

Exports of new energy vehicles reached 83,000 units in August, rising 53.6% from a year earlier and jumping 82.3% from a year earlier, said the association.
