China’s auto market in slow recovery, more government measures needed to boost car demand – industry body

China’s auto industry has been improving since April, but the market is still in a slow recovery and automakers still face greater pressure, said the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.

Based on the current situation, it’s an arduous task for the sector to achieve steady growth this year and more measures are needed to further recover and expand car demand, the association said at a meeting with carmakers on Wednesday.

China’s domestic demand remains weak and the government needs to introduce more measures to release the potential of consumption and provide some support to conventional fuel vehicle market while encouraging the new energy vehicle market, said Chen Shihua, deputy secretary general of the association.
