China’s average prices of rice, wheat and corn in market place stood at 135 yuan per 100 jin (50 kg) in June, rising by 4.6% from that in January this year and growing by 4.5% from the same period last year, according to data from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, adding that the rise was significantly lower than the prices hikes in the international market.

In China’s Zhengzhou Grain Wholesale market, average wheat price stood at 1.54 yuan per jin (500 gram) in June, rising by 8.5% from January and surging 22% from the same period last year, 11 percentage points and 54 percentage points lower than the price rises in the international market during the same period, according to the ministry.

Price of imported soybean in Shandong reached 2.75 yuan per jin (500 gram) in June, surging 14.7% from a year earlier, mainly driven by price hikes in the international market, said the ministry.

China’s summer grain output reached 294.8 billion jin (147.4 billion kg) in the first half of the year, rising by 2.87 billion jin (1.44 billion kg) from a year earlier and hit a new record high, said the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.

That included 271.5 billion jin (135.8 billion kg) of wheat, rising by 2.57 billion jin (1.26 billion kg) from a year earlier, it said.

Planted area of soybean and oilseeds increased significantly and unit output hit new record high, it said.
