China’s capital Beijing issues 100 mln yuan coupons to support catering businesses

The authorities of China’s capital of Beijing is giving away a new round of consumption coupons, in a move to boost the recovery of local catering business after recent COVID-19 outbreak. 

A total of 100 million yuan ($14.82 million) of coupons will cover takeaway, dine-in services and support to the vulnerable groups, which are now available for Beijing residents via multiple mobile phone apps and mini-programs on WeChat including food delivery firms Meituan, Ele.me and others. 

Ele.me said that the latest round of coupons giveaway will run from July 18 to August 16, providing two discount coupons of 15 and 30 yuan off when the overall order value reaches 50 and 100 yuan, respectively.

Ele.me said that the company prepared 450,000 coupons valued over 10 million yuan guided by Beijing Municipal Commerce Bureau, in order to revive local virus-hit restaurants.
