China’s credit growth accelerated in June, bank loans hit record high in first half of 2020

China's credit growth picked up in June and banks extended more loans as authorities continued to boost credit expansion to get the world’s second-largest economy humming again after a sharp coronavirus-induced contraction.

Chinese banks extended 1.81 trillion yuan ($258 billion) in new yuan loans in June, up from 1.48 trillion yuan in May, according to data released by the People’s Bank of China (PBOC) on Friday. That's slightly higher than 1.8 trillion yuan expected by analysts in a Reuters poll.
