China’s electricity consumption grew at faster pace in July

China’s total electricity consumption reached 888.8 billion kWh in July, an increase of 6.5% from a year earlier, accelerating from the 3.9% growth in the previous month, according to data released by the National Energy Administration on Monday.

In breakdown, the primary sector’s electricity consumption grew by 14% from a year earlier; secondary sector grew by 5.7%; while tertiary sector rose by 9.5%, showed the data.

The household sector’s electricity consumption reached 163.1 billion kWh last month, rising by 5.1% from a year earlier, picking up from the 2.2% growth in June.

China’s electricity consumption reached 5.2 trillion kWh in Jan – Jul, rising by 5.2% from a year earlier, accelerating from the 5% growth in June, according to the NEA.

In breakdown, the primary sector’s electricity consumption reached 71.6 billion kWh in Jan – Jul, rising by 12.3% from a year earlier; secondary sector 3.4 trillion kWH, rising by 4.6%; tertiary sector 936.8 billion kWh, rising by 9.8%.

The household sector’s electricity consumption reached 782.7 billion kWh in the period, rising by 2.1% from a year earlier, picking up from the 1.3% growth in the first six months, showed the data.
