China’s electricity consumption hit record high in July, rising 16.3 per cent from 2019-level

China's total electricity consumption hit a new record high of 775.8 billion kWh in July, rising 12.8 per cent from a year earlier and growing 16.3 per cent from the same period in 2019, according to data released by the National Energy Administration.

The growth was driven by the low comparison base last year due to the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic as well as the domestic economic recovery so far this year, with exports growing rapidly and high temperature since July also helping boost the stronger-than-expected growth, analysts say . . .
