China's electricity consumption is expected increase by 6-7 per cent in 2021 from the year before, according to estimates by the China Electricity Council (CEC), despite concerns over a new coronavirus outbreak disrupting industrial activity.

China used 7.51 trillion kilowatt hours (kWh) of electric power last year, rising 3.1 per cent from 2019.
