Gallium and germanium related products have obvious dual-use properties, and it’s a common practice globally to impose export control on such products, said China’s Ministry of Commerce on Thursday.
The Chinese government’s export control on gallium and germanium to ensure the use for legitimate purposes is aimed at safeguarding China’s national security and better fulfil international obligations, it said.
Export control is not a ban on export and a license will be granted if relevant regulations are met, it said.
The measure does not target any specific country and before the announcement of the export control, China had notified the US and the EU through dialogue channels, it added.
