China’s lithium carbonate futures hit lowest since launch

China’s most-traded lithium carbonate futures contract on the Guangzhou Futures Exchange, for January 2024 delivery, slides nearly 4% to hit 205,450 yuan per tonne at one point, marking the lowest level since its launch on July 21. 

The price of battery-grade lithium carbonate declined by 2,000 yuan per tonne to 247,000 yuan per tonne on Thursday, marking a new low in more than two months and sliding for the 22nd straight day, according to the Shanghai Metals Market. 

The price fell by 19,000 yuan per tonne in the recent five days and by 60,000 yuan per tonne in the recent 30 days.Â
