China’s lithium carbonate futures hit new low, spot price slides for 24th straight day to lowest in 3 months

China’s most-traded lithium carbonate futures contract on the Guangzhou Futures Exchange, for January 2024 delivery, tumbled 5.5% to close at 196,750 yuan per tonne, marking a new low since the launch of the commodity on July 21. 

The price of battery-grade lithium carbonate in China fell by 4,500 yuan per tonne to 239,500 yuan per tonne on Monday, marking a new low in more than three months and sliding for the 24th consecutive days, according to data from Shanghai Metals Market.

The price fell by 17,000 yuan per tonne in the recent five days and by 67,500 yuan per tonne in the recent 30 days. 

The price of battery-grade lithium hydroxide fell by 3,500 yuan per tonne to 224,000 yuan per tonne, also a new low in more than three months and falling for the 21st straight day, showed the data.

The price declined by 17,000 yuan per tonne in the recent five days and by 70,000 yuan per tonne in the recent 30 days.
