China’s lithium carbonate price fell for 12th straight day to hit new one-year low, futures tumbled 5.5% to hit new low since launch

The price of battery-grade lithium carbonate in China declined by 3,500 yuan per tonne to drop below 180,000 yuan per tonne mark and hit 176,500 yuan per tonne, marking a new low in more than a year and sliding for the 12th straight day, according to Shanghai Metals Market. 

The price fell by 12,500 yuan per tonne in the recent five days and fell by 72,500 yuan per tonne on the recent 30 days. 

The price of battery-grade lithium hydroxide fell by 2,000 yuan per tonne to hit 167,000 yuan per tonne, marking a new low in more than a year and sliding for the 48th straight day, showed the data.

The price fell by 7,000 yuan per tonne in the recent five days and fell by 65,500 yuan per tonne on the recent 30 days. 

China’s most-traded lithium carbonate futures contract on the Guangzhou Futures Exchange, for January 2024 delivery, continued to decline on Wednesday, slumping by 5.5% to close at 154,150 yuan per tonne, marking a new low since it’s launched in July.
