China’s passenger flight volume increased in the second quarter from the previous quarter, with the monthly flight volume reaching 407,000 in April, 426,000 in May and 419,000 in June, respectively, according to the China Air Transport Association.

The total passenger flight volume in the quarter rose by 2.7% from that in the same period in 2019 and domestic passenger flight volume rose by 9.7%, it said.

The total air passenger traffic reached 155 million in the quarter, with domestic passenger traffic rising 5.4% from 2019-level to 147 million and international passenger traffic reaching 33.7% of 2019-level to 6.126 million, it said.

Driven by strong travel demand in summer and the National Day holiday in the second half of the year, the full-year passenger traffic will be significantly higher than expectation at the start of the year, with domestic passenger traffic to exceed the 2019-level, it said.
