China’s power battery installation, output hit new record in August

China’s power battery installation hit a new record high of 27.8GWh in August, surging 121% from a year earlier and rising 14.7% from the previous month, according to data released by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.

In breakdown, ternary battery installation reached 10.5 GWh last month, accounting for 37.9% of the total installation, rising 97.1% from a year earlier and up 7% from the month before. Lithium-ion phosphate battery installation reached 17.2 GWh last month, accounting for 62% of the total, surging 138.6% from a year earlier and rising 20% from the previous month.

In the first eight months of the year, China’s power battery installation reached 162.1GWh, surging 112.3% from the same period last year. In breakdown, ternary battery installation reached 66GWh, accounting for 40.7% of the total and rising 61.1% from a year earlier, and lithium-ion phosphate battery installation reached 95.9GWh, accounting for 59.2% of the total and rising 172.2% from a year earlier, showed the data.

Data from the association also showed that China’s power battery output reached an all-time high of 50.1GWh in August, surging 157% from a year earlier and rising 6% from the previous month.

In breakdown, output of ternary battery output reached 19.3 GWh in August, surging 130% from a year earlier and lithium-ion phosphate battery output reached 30.8 GWh, rising 177.5% from a year ealrier and up 0.5% from the previous month, showed the data.
