China’s PV product output rose by more than 65% on year in first half

China’s photovoltaic industry maintained a stable upward trend in the first half of 2023 and the output of the main products in the sector achieved rapid growth, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

China’s output of polysilicon, silicon wafers, cells and modules hit a new high in the first half, all growing by more than 65% from a year earlier, according to calculation by the industry association. 

Specifically, output of polysilicon reached 606,000 tonnes, surging 66.1% from a year earlier; output of silicon wafers exceeded 253.4GW, jumping 65.8%; output of cells exceeded 224.5GW, up 65.7%; and output modules exceeded 204GW, rising by 65%.

The total export of photovoltaic products reached $28.92 billion in the first half, an increase of 11.6% from a year earlier.
