China’s retail sales of passenger cars expected to rise 4.5% on year in Dec – industry association

China’s retail sales of passenger vehicles are expected to reach 2.2 million units in December, rising 4.5% from a year earlier and up 33.3% from the previous month, according to the China Passenger Car Association.

Retail sales of new energy passenger vehicles are expected to reach 700,000 units in December, rising 47.4% from a year earlier and growing 17% from the previous month, with penetration rate at 31.8%, said the association.

Data released by the association one day earlier showed that retail sales of passenger cars reached 542,000 units in the week of Dec 12 – 18, rising 18% from a year earlier, up 44% from the previous week, and rising 56% from the same period last month.

Wholesales volume of passenger vehicles reached 479 million units in the week, falling 5% from a year earlier, up 38% from a week ago and up 27% from the same period last month, showed the data.

In the period of Dec 1 – 18, retail sales of passenger cars reached 1.04 million units, rising 6% from a year earlier, and up 36% from the same period in November, while wholesale volume reached 946,000 units, sliding 15% from a year earlier and up 15% from a month ago, showed the data.
