China's semiconductor imports dropped slightly in April from a record high in the previous month, showed the data released by the customs authorities, as the global chip shortage continues to disrupt major industries.

China imported 54.7 billion semiconductor units last month, worth $33.1 billion, according to data released by the General Administration of Customs on Friday, marking a 7 per cent drop from a month earlier when 58.9 billion semiconductor units worth $35.9 billion were imported.
