Wanda Film, China’s largest cinema operator, said its first-half net profit attributable to shareholders is expected to reach 380 – 420 million yuan, compared to a net loss of 580 million yuan in the same period last year.
The company’s revenue reached 6.7 – 6.9 billion yuan during the period, rising by 35.6% – 39.7% from a year earlier, it said.
China’s movie market experienced a full recovery in the first half of the year amid the domestic economic recovery and with the help of the government’s support, with national movie box office revenue reaching 26.27 billion yuan in the first half, surging 52.9% from a year earlier and reaching 83.9% of the level seen in the same period in 2019, it said.
Cinema attendance reached 604 million, rising by 51.8% from a year earlier and reached 74.8% of 2019-level, showed the data.
