The State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR), China’s top market regulator, vowed to ramp up regulation on on advertising to build a healthy market environment.

The regulator will strengthen regulation on online advertising with focus on new forms of advertising such as live-streaming sales advertising, pop-up advertising, and “soft-text” advertising to step up efforts on rectifying the chaos in the online internet advertising sector, it said.

The regulator will rectify false and illegal advertisements, strengthen cross-departmental supervision, step up the crackdown on false advertising such as “miracle doctors” and “miracle medicine” and step up punishment of those involve in illegal advertising, it said.
