China’s travel service trade surged 56.6% on year in Q1, trade of knowledge-intensive services rose 12.8%

China’s travel services have recovered significantly, with import and export of travel services reaching 337.63 billion yuan in the first quarter of the year, surging 56.6% from a year earlier, said the Ministry of Commerce.

Among them, exports increased by 38.4% and imports increased by 58%, said the ministry.

China’s import and export of knowledge-intensive services reached 694.7 billion yuan in the first quarter of the year, rising by 12.8% from a year earlier, accounting for 43.9% of the country’s total import and export of services, an increase of 1.6 percentage points from a year ago, said the Ministry of Commerce. 

Exports of knowledge-intensive services reached 415.57 billion yuan, an increase of 18.7% from a year earlier, with insurance services posting the fastest growth, surging by 276.4%, it said. 

Import of knowledge-intensive services reached 279.13 billion yuan in the quarter, an increase of 5.1% on year, and the fastest-growing areas were personal cultural and entertainment services and other commercial services, with growth rates of 35.4% and 20.5%, respectively, it said.
