Electricity consumption in southern China grew fastest in three years in Q1, economic powerhouse Guangdong expects record load shortage in Q2

China southern regions saw electric power use grow at the fastest pace in three years in the first quarter of the year. In particular, Guangdong province, the country's biggest economic powerhouse, is expected to see a record power load gap in the second quarter.

Electricity consumption in provinces in southern China reached 285.6 billion kWh in the first quarter of the year, surging 29.8 per cent from a year earlier, the fastest pace in three years, according to data released on Thursday by the China Southern Power Grid.
