Hong Kong stock exchange studying launching futures of government debt, including commodity in Stock Connect – CEO

The Hong Kong Stock Exchange will make efforts to boost the liquidity of the Hong Kong market by offering more products and services and attracting more customers, said Nicolas Aguzin, CEO of the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing, according to Hong Kong local newspaper Ming Pao.

For instance, the HKEX is studying the possibility of launching futures for government debts and including commodity trading in the Stock Connect scheme, Aguzin added.

The Hong Kong bourse recently set up an office in London where a large number of hedge funds, private equity funds and fintech companies are based and the office is aimed at attracting more European investors, help them know more about Hong Kong market and financial products and grasp opportunities of the growth in Asia and attract global companies to list in Hong Kong, he said.
