Chinese electric vehicle maker NIO said it now has more than 10,000 charging piles after opening of a supercharging station in Shenzhen.

NIO has a total of 1,039 battery swap stations, and 1,757 charging stations, offering 10,071 charging piles, it said. The charging facilities include 936 supercharging stations offering 5,091 charging piles, and 821 destination charging stations offering 4,980 piles.

The 10,071 charging stations now cover 269 cities in China, and the largest single supercharging station has 80 charging piles in Shenzhen and can provide an average of 2,000 services per day.

To date, NIO’s charging stations have provided a cumulative total of 9.6 million charging services, with a current daily average of more than 30,000 services, it said. NIO’s charging piles are open to all EV brands, providing more than 80% of the power used by other brands, according to the company.

Nio put its first destination charging station into operation in Chengdu, Southwest China’s Sichuan province on August 22, 2018. On July 9, 2019, NIO put its first supercharging station into operation in Suzhou, Jiangsu province.
