Hong Kong stocks open lower, with the benchmark Hang Seng Index down 1.08%, the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index down 1.56% and the Hang Seng Tech Index down 1.68%.
Technology heavyweights are sliding across the board, with NetEase down more than 45, Baidu and JD.com down nearly 3%, Tencent, Meituan and Alibaba down more than 1%.
Automakers are also leading the losses, with NIO down more than 5%. Internet healthcare companies, catering companies, oil companies and gas distributors are mostly lower. Shipping companies are outperforming.
Chinese A-shares open mixed, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.07%, the Shenzhen Component Index down 0.12% and the tech-heavy Chinext Price Index up 0.41%.
Shipping companies, defence stocks, electric power companies, agriculture companies, software developers are trading higher, while drugmakers, oil and gas companies, catering and tourism companies are leading the loss.
