In the week of July 19 – 25, booking volume for hotels in several cities in Southwest China’s Yunnan province, including Dali and Xishuangbanna more than doubled from the level seen in the same period last year, according to data from online travel agency Fliggy.

Bookings for hotels in Xishuangbanna surging by more than four times year over year and bookings for hotels in Dalia surging by 130%, according to the data.

Bookings for group travel to Yunnan province during the summer break have recovered and exceeded year-ago level, as a heatwave is sweeping across the country and people are rushing to summer resorts, it said.

In Northeast China’s Jilin province, hotels saw payments have surged by more than eight time year over year since July, according to data from Fliggy.

In addition, Northwest China’s Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous region has also seen hotel booking surge and hotels in the regions saw actual payments surge by 30% year over year in each week in the recent month, showed data from Fliggy.

The data also showed that car rental bookings in Xinjiang surged by more than 100% year over year in the recent month, showed the data.
