Chinese electric automaker Xpeng Motors is reportedly offering big discounts to car buyers in offline stores, although the prices shown on its website remain unchanged, reported mainland automotive news media Chedongxi, citing salesperson in cities including Beijing, Shanghai and Chengdu.

Currently, consumers can get a 15,000 yuan discount for ordering the XPeng P7 in Beijing, and 10,000 yuan for the P5 and G3i models, according to the report.

In addition to the cash discount, XPeng is also offering consumers a free first maintenance and 2,000 kWh of free charging, it said.

Some stores in Beijing are offering more complex deals, including a 5,000 yuan deposit that can be used as 10,000 yuan and an additional 5,000 to 10,000 yuan discount for making the final payment by July 31, according to the report.

In addition to Beijing, XPeng is also offering discounts on final payments in Shanghai and Chengdu in the amount of 5,000 to 10,000 yuan, the report said, adding that users can also get 5,000 to 10,000 yuan off for optional packages.

XPeng is offering discounts as it’s facing difficulties that sales growth may not keep up with capacity increases, the report noted.

XPeng Chairman and CEO He Xiaopeng had said that its Zhaoqing plant and the plants in Guangzhou and Wuhan under construction have a total designed capacity of 400,000 units and can support 600,000 units of annual production through double-shift production.

In February, XPeng opened the second phase of its Zhaoqing plant, increasing annual capacity from 100,000 to 200,000 units. Its Guangzhou plant is expected to start production in the third quarter, and the Wuhan plantwill start production in October, Chedongxi noted.
