China’s tech hub Shenzhen’s industrial output up 5.9% on year in H1, high-tech product output surged

China’s technology hub of Shenzhen saw its industrial output grow by 5.9% in the first half from a year earlier, picking up by 3.6 percentage points from the growth in the first quarter, according to the local government.

Output in the mining and manufacturing sectors grew by 12.9% and 6.1%, respectively, while output in the utilities sector fell by 3%, showed the data.

Auto-making industry’s output jumped by 91.1% on year in the first half; oil and natural gas extraction industry rose 12.5%; special equipment manufacturing industry rose 10.6%; computer, telecommunication and other electronic equipment manufacturing industry rose 3.7%.

Output of high-tech products including new energy vehicles, charging piles, 5G smartphones and drones for civilian use jumped by 174%. 164%, 67% and 28.%, respectively, it said.
