China plans to phase in a standard mapping system serving the application of self-driving vehicles by 2025, according to a guideline released by the Ministry of Natural Resources.

More than 10 core standards will be made for the primal standards mapping system including basic application, data collection, update and distribution, etc, in order to address urgent issues in applying mapping in auto-pilot operation, according to the guideline.

By 2030, China will have built a sophisticated standard mapping system, with more than 20 standards including data output, application services and quality monitoring, providing comprehensive support for the deployment of smart driving and related supplies, it said.
