China to introduce new policies to support NEV consumption – commerce ministry

China will actively introduce new policies and measures to support the consumption of new energy vehicles, said Wang Wentao, Minister of Commerce. 

For example, the ministry will guide local governments in launching campaigns to promote sales of new energy vehicles in rural areas, optimizing the charging and usage environment, and supporting NEV consumption, he said.

In addition, it will work with relevant departments to improve supporting facilities such as NEV charging stations, which is more complicated than promoting NEV consumption in urban areas, he said.

The ministry will also expand the circulation of used cars, promote the distribution of green and smart home appliances in rural areas, and encourage the replacement of old appliances with new ones, he said.

Meanwhile, the ministry will support the healthy development of new consumption formats and models, he added.
